Our 4 Workshops

We'll bring Revitalization Institute to you.  We offer workshops to help public & private leaders understand, specify, and design integrated approaches to restoration projects and revitalization programs.

These workshops have been introduced now to coincide with our new Regional Revitalization Initiatives, and with our Pilot Program. Our Integrated Revitalization Guide frames the curriculum for our Integrated Restoration Projects and Integrated Revitalization Programs.  If desired, bringing one of our workshops to your area can also be a first step towards enrolling your community or region as a Leader Region in our new Integrated Revitalization Tools program.

Here are our four workshops:

  • Revitalization Strategy Workshop (five days; for communities or regions): The Strategy Workshop is a 5-day intensive local workshop for up to 24 of your local leaders.  It works best if you enroll a diversity of stakeholders: government, business, NGO, and citizen.  The Strategy Workshop is designed to be the fastest and most efficient way for a community or region to perceive and tap their revitalization potential. Using our Integrated Revitalization Guide, participants create a custom Revitalization Launch Guide for their community or region.  This Launch Guide is a decision-making tool you can use for years to come in planning the integrated renewal of your restorable assets in all 12 sectors, via a phased, practical strategy that takes into consideration your local political, social, and financial realities. The Strategy Workshop faculty comprises one instructor from Revitalization Institute's staff, plus up to five Guest Experts (if desired) from organizations in Revitalization Institute's 3 Networks.

  • Revitalization Vision Workshop (one day, for communities or regions): You're not likely to recruit (up to) two dozen local leaders to commit 5 days of their lives to our Strategy Workshop unless they know why it's needed, what they're getting into, how it's going to benefit your community/region, and how their particular agency, non-profit, educational institution, or business can benefit from playing a key role.  This enlightening, exciting, and even entertaining 8-hour session introduces them to the 12 sectors of restorable assets, the concept of a "restoration economy", and the power of integrated approaches to restoration and revitalization. They also learn how to use our Integrated Revitalization Guide. The Vision Workshop faculty comprises one instructor from Revitalization Institute's staff, plus up to three Guest Experts (if desired) from organizations in our 3 Networks.

  • Restoration Design Workshop (one day; for companies, communities, or regions): The two services above focus on revitalization programs for entire communities and regions.  This 1-day Design Workshop is for individual restoration projects, such as redeveloping a brownfield property, reusing/renovating an historic building, restoring an ecosystem or wetland, etc.  They also learn how to use our Integrated Revitalization Guide. The Design Workshop faculty comprises one instructor from Revitalization Institute's staff, plus up to 3 Guest Experts (if desired) from organizations in our 3 Networks.

  • NEW! "How to Specify I.R." (one day, for communities or regions): The easiest way to bring integrated restoration projects--or an integrated revitalization program--to your area is to ask for it.  But you probably don't want to spend the next few years around a conference table arguing about how to specify integrated renewal approaches in your RFP/RFQs.  In one day, we'll show you how to write an RFP/RFQ that attracts the kinds of developers and A/E firms that not only understand what integrated renewal is, but how to deliver it.  Our elegantly simple solutions to this complex challenge also enable you to effectively monitor and evaluate their work. [More info on this new course will appear soon.]

Integrated Revitalization tools & services are

the only universally-applicable renewal aids.

They're designed to work in all situations: Rural or urban areas; Industrial or agricultural properties; Developed or lesser-developed nations; Any form of local government; Any size area or number of jurisdictions; Over any time period...from short-term projects to ongoing programs.

Properly designed, a strategy based on Integrated Revitalization is relatively

immune to political and most other external variables, and it's effective whether the

primary goal is focused on economy, culture, health, or natural resources.

Integrated Revitalization turns the complex process of renewing all of an area's

restorable assets (natural & built) into a series of integrated smaller projects.  Each step:

Enhances health & wealth; builds broader support; recruits more expertise; adds momentum;

and moves the initiative closer to a sustainable, self-funding basis.
